One day after the release of sensational new EP Ephedra, Socket Science strikes again with a new studio crafted mix. This time custom made for the delectable Belgium based blog Ssssound, as no. seven in their congenially entitled mix series Ssssoundtrack. In order to suit the context it’s slightly more pop oriented than some of the previous club colored sets. Still, you can without a doubt play it on your next dj gig while pretending to mix vinyl without being ashamed.
As usual it carries some of the best 12”s currently on the shelves, but what makes this extra special is the exclusive Astor Bell related tracks. Hex is the first sign of life from Bubble Shield since the debut My Raspberry Nights (which was actually produced back in 2007)! An utterly hypnotizing track that makes us thrilled about what’s to come! Also there’s an unreleased SS track named Virtual Reality which might or might not be released, plus a remix of Harvey McKay‘s techno super hit 69, which takes it into subtly more mellow domains while keeping the rawness and crashingly deranged atmosphere of the original.

After months and months in Stockholm, Sweden’s Consulate Studio, Socket Science finally returns with a sophomore release on Astor Bell. Ephedra is an EP consisting of three long, dark and slow yet club friendly tracks. More techno than the slightly pop oriented predecessor, but still drenched in those gorgeous little melodies that we’ve learnt to expect.
Carrying moments of both feelgood and itchy discomfort, this release grasps to cover a wide variety of emotions. Interpret it freely, just make sure you get that beat going.

We’ve been doing dome spring cleaning in the mixes section of the AB domains, rinsing out some oldies to open up for something new and fresh. To compensate for the great music chucked away, we right away added a perfect example of that new and fresh, entitled Empire Mix.
It’s our in-house vinyl DJ and hero Mattias Edholm that has been going at it again, which you by now should know means an impeccable choice of minimal techno blended into one beautiful and strange piece of music.

… and with business we mean music. Of course. We’ll be in charge of it at yet another release party for the quality film magazine FLM. It’s on tomorrow at El Mundo in Stockholm.
At eight o’clock top notch film producer Jesper Ganslandt will play a secret alternative soundtrack to his movie “Apan” (“The Ape”) . After that we’ll plug in our laptops and cd-players and take it away. Expect some light weight airy and beautiful electronic music to accompany the late but now definite Swedish spring.

Sorry for the lack of news updates here. We’ve just been dead busy with all submissions as well as the two releases coming up. Anyway the remix competition is over since a couple of days and we’ve been going through all the tracks several times. It was of course a tough job picking the winners, not only due to the amount of great music but also because we’ve aimed at a solid release with a variety of genres and tracks represented. (Fact is what seems like half of the submissions were takes on Bubble Shield‘s Speculation…)
Today we did however manage to settle on the ten tracks that will make it to the album. We have notified the winners via email or SoundCloud mail. Our original intention was to email all participants, to show our gratitude, but there’s just been no time so we’ll try and spread the news via official posts like this one.
Since we had to leave some spectacular remixes out we plan to post a couple here as soon as the release is out. Let us know if you disapprove.
Once again, Big Thanks to everyone who took part!! We’re looking forward to more collaborations with you in the future.
